Veterans Rowing & Kayaking Program Update.03/03/16

The RILSF is a Platinum Sponsor of the RI Blinded Vets Rowing & Kayaking Program which provides blind veterans the opportunity to improve their quality of life by engaging them in a physical wellness and fitness activity while creating a sense of unity and network using teamwork to reach a desired goal.
Recreation contributes to a person's overall well-being, physical and emotional health, and social and community connections. For a person with vision loss, fighting off isolation and feeling like you have lost your independence can be some of the toughest challenges.

Our RI participant was Rob Sanchas from Warren and for a 1st timer to rowing and competing at it, he did very well and is looking forward to going with an expanded team in 2017.

We now look forward to the start of indoor training at the 426 Fitness Center in Warren and this spring they will have the opportunity to row on the water in a special Rowing Barge out of the East Bay Rowing in Barrington.
